How to replace the engine oil filter on a Volkswagen Golf? Follow these steps: lift the car on a column lift and remove the bolt from the oil sump, allowing the oil to drain into a container (tighten the bolt at the end of the draining). Use a strap wrench to unscrew the oil filter, remove it, and fit a new one, ensuring it adheres well around the thread. Lower the car back to the ground, open the car door, pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, and lift the front bonnet, securing it. Remove the cap from the engine head and top up with new oil to replace the liquid removed earlier.
