How to replace the battery on a Volkswagen Touareg? This guide explains how to remove the battery. Open the car door and lift the driver's seat; the battery is located underneath (in other cars, it is commonly found in the engine compartment). Remove the mat, and start unscrewing the seat's securing bolts with a socket wrench; unscrew the battery terminal bolts. Remove the old battery using the plastic handle and install a new one, tightening the power terminals. Close the battery compartment and lower the driver's seat.
