Alternator Replacement Instructions

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

To access the alternator, you must first remove the throttle body located at the front left of the engine (when viewed from the front): disconnect the hoses connected to it and unscrew the fixing bolts; once the throttle body is removed, the alternator is immediately visible. Then loosen the tensioner (locking it with a pin) and detach the auxiliary belt from the alternator pulley; subsequently, remove the tensioner itself and finally the alternator, which can be replaced with a refurbished one: during this operation, it is advisable to disconnect the battery.
