Replacement of Engine Air Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

The engine air filter housing (air box) is located at the front left of the engine bay (when viewed from the front), that is, on the passenger side; to access the filter box, you first need to remove the incoming air duct, which is secured to the grille with three screws: once the screws are removed, you can take off the duct, which consists of three interlocking pieces; then remove the side heat shield made of aluminium and disconnect the inlet hoses; at this point, you can unclip the metal tabs that close the cover, extract the old filter, and insert the new one after removing any dirt residues.
