How to Reset the Oil Change Indicator on BMW E87 Series

After replacing the engine oil in your car, the electronic system still informs you that it needs to be changed. Here’s how to reset the engine oil change indicator on a BMW E87. Insert the keys and press the ignition button to turn on the instrument cluster without starting the engine. Then, press and hold the button at the bottom left of the cluster until the brake fluid warning icon appears on the display. Use the selection button to scroll until you find the engine oil icon. Press and hold the BC button until the oil change reset is completed. Once the reset is done, switch off the ignition and turn it back on to verify that the reset has been performed correctly.
