How Does Start & Stop Work on Ford Vehicles?

If your Ford vehicle is equipped with automatic Start & Stop technology, know that it is designed to help you reduce fuel consumption. The function is normally active unless you choose to deactivate it by pressing the function off button. It will be active every time you start the vehicle, and whenever you come to a complete stop, such as at a red light, the engine will automatically shut off, and a warning light on the instrument cluster will indicate this. Simply lifting your foot off the brake pedal will restart the engine automatically. The Start & Stop may not function if the battery is not sufficiently charged, if the engine is warming up, or if you are using the heating or air conditioning. Remember that the electric power steering is inactive when the engine is off.
