Driver Airbag Removal Instructions

Model: Hyundai Sonata - Years 2004-2014

The driver airbag is secured to the steering wheel with two side pins: there are two side holes behind the steering wheel that allow access to the securing pins. Insert a Torx key into the hole and unscrew the securing pin, first on one side and then the other. Pull the airbag away from the steering wheel, disconnect the detonator connectors by first removing the safety tabs and the horn power supply. To prevent the airbag warning light from illuminating, it is advisable to disconnect the battery before removing the connectors.
