Operation: How to diagnose a problem with the first cylinder

This video shows what a good mechanic's approach must be in dealing with troubleshooting when there are no lights on and no faults are found in memory. The symptom presented by the vehicle is a very irregular minimum therefore the defect is probably to be found in the power supply and above all to understand which cylinder. We then start by evaluating what happens to the engine rotation speed by disconnecting the injectors individually: by disconnecting the first the defect remains unchanged and this immediately leads to the understanding that the problem is most likely in the first cylinder, in fact the symptom is accentuated by disconnecting then the second and so on the other injectors. Then it is certain that the fault concerns the first cylinder and one proceeds by taking a measurement of the compression of each single cylinder proceeding as follows: one measures the maximum compression, that of a single revolution of the starter motor and then that of five revolutions (the the motor can be activated from the relay box by making a simple jumper and removing the fuel pump relay so as not to inject it into the cylinders); this test also shows that there is a compression problem in the first cylinder. The check is then completed by carrying out a tightness test on the cylinder itself by introducing compressed air: you immediately notice that the cylinder is unable to maintain the pressure and that even air escapes from the throttle body; this therefore leads to the conclusion that the problem is in the seat of the intake valve of the first cylinder and the difference in height between the intake and exhaust valves after removing the tappet cover also confirms it.
