How to Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter

Do you need to replace the engine oil and oil filter? This guide will show you how to do it. You will need a medium-sized ratchet wrench, a special cap to fit over the oil filter cap for removal, an appropriately sized wrench, a battery-powered extractor if possible, a flathead screwdriver, along with oil and a filter. Open the hood, and on the right side of the cylinder head, you will see the oil cap and oil filter. With a slight upward pressure, remove the cover that protects the last part of the cylinder head, which is pressed in place. Take the special cap to fit over the oil filter cap for removal, and once done, extract the filter.
At this point, the car can be lifted on the lift. If you go under the engine, you will see a cover that protects the oil pan, secured with four nuts that you can remove with the extractor. On the left side of the pan, you will see a nut that, once removed with the medium ratchet, will allow all the engine oil to drain into a container that you have prepared in advance. For the filter, remove it from the rod that holds it, take off the retainers and gaskets, and insert the new gaskets and retainers first, then the filter, checking the instructions for the correct orientation. Now you can re-install it and add oil to the reservoir. Once the cover is reinserted onto the bottom of the cylinder head, the operation is complete.
