In this video, we will see how to keep an eye on the condition of the timing belt of the now-famous PSA 1.2 Puretech, which is identified by the codes EB2ADT (naturally aspirated 82 hp); AB2ADTD (turbo 110 hp); EB2DTS (turbo 130 hp); EB2DTM (turbo 130 hp but with different specifications). The problem is well known: the timing belt immersed in oil degrades prematurely, releasing fragments that clog the oil pump and obstruct the oil passages. In the worst cases, the belt can break, the timing can jump, and valves and pistons can collide, destroying the engine. We can monitor the condition of the belt through the oil cap, which allows us to see it through a grille. If we notice that the belt is cracked, frayed, or damaged in any way, we should rush to the workshop without delay to avoid further problems. In any case, we should NEVER wait for the 150,000 km indicated by the manufacturer: 60,000 to 80,000 km is already quite enough.
