Where is the alternator located in the Volkswagen Polo MK5?

Let's see where the alternator is located on a Volkswagen Polo MK5: it is found in the engine compartment, at the front, but positioned lower than the engine. Let's open the hood; the alternator is mounted at the front and lower part of the engine, and to see it clearly we will need to look from below upwards (we will see it much better from underneath). It has the shape of a small metallic cylinder and is attached to the engine with two brackets. On the back, it will have a square electrical connector and a thick cable, which is the battery output cable, usually with a ring terminal. It is driven by a V-belt (the drive belt) that also connects the crankshaft, the air conditioning unit, and the water pump.
