Replacement of Valve Cover Gasket

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008
Part: Cylinder head

First, remove the support with the pipes attached to the front of the valve cover; disconnect the connectors linked to the ignition coils and the rear breather pipe; then extract the coils complete with leads; next, unscrew all the fastening screws of the valve cover (you will also need to remove the side screws that secure the timing belt cover); then pry with a screwdriver to remove the cover. At this point, remove the old gasket and carefully clean the seating (also on the cover) before applying the new one. Apply the new gasket to the cover and proceed in reverse for reassembly, inserting the new seals around the fastening screws.
