Replacing the Rear Wheel Half Shaft

Model: Volkswagen Maggiolino MK 1 - Years 1938-1980
Part: Axle shaft

Necessary tools: puller, 18 mm and 19 mm socket spanners, a 5 mm Allen key, screwdriver set, large hammer. Obtain the replacement half shaft. Lift the vehicle on a ramp and remove the wheel. Using the appropriate puller, remove the half shaft bolt. Remove the brake drum. Apply penetrating oil to the bolts securing the shock absorber and unscrew them. Also remove the support under the shock absorber's wheel arch and free it from the arm. Remove the support under the vehicle body that holds the half shaft. Now you can extract the half shaft. Remove the support, insert the new half shaft into the differential and refit the support under the body. Refit the brake, shock absorber, and wheel.
