How to Replace the Diesel Fuel Filter on a Volvo V60

This guide shows how to replace the diesel fuel filter on a Volvo V60. The fuel filter is located at the rear right of the vehicle; you need to lift the vehicle to perform the replacement. Using a filter wrench, unscrew the cap of the housing, positioning a container to catch the fuel. Allow all the fuel in the filter to drain and dispose of the old cartridge. Clean the cap of the housing and replace its gasket. Install the new filter cartridge and fill the filter cap with fresh diesel fuel. Tighten the filter to 18 lb-ft and clean up any fuel residue. From the driver's seat, insert the key and press the ignition button for a long time; you will hear the fuel pump activate. Turn off the ignition by pressing the button again. Repeat this procedure 5 to 6 times; start the engine for a few minutes to allow the diesel to circulate fully in the filter.
