Replacing Engine Oil Level Sensor and Performing Maintenance

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006

Lift the vehicle on appropriate jack stands and drain the engine oil through the oil pan drain plug.
Directly in front of the drain plug, you will find the engine oil level sensor: disconnect the connector, remove the three mounting bolts, and pull it out of its housing to replace it with the new one (pay attention to the o-ring seal and the tightening of the mounting bolts).
At this point, open the hood and unscrew the cap of the oil filter container located at the front, next to the power steering fluid reservoir: then remove the old cartridge filter and replace it with the new one.
Finally, fill the engine with new oil according to SAE specifications (5W-30) and the quantities indicated in the owner's manual.
Also, replace the engine air filter located on the left side: simply unclip the securing clips of the filter container cover.
Add antifreeze additive to the coolant and finally reset the service light with a diagnostic tool.
