How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on a Chevrolet Silverado Mk4

This guide shows how to replace the engine oil in a Chevrolet Silverado Mk4. To drain the oil pan, lift the vehicle, locate the drain plug, and position a container for fluid disposal. Remove the 15 mm bolt. Replace the bolt gasket and reinstall it. Clean any oil residue. Locate the oil filter housing near the valve, and remove it with an oil filter wrench. Allow the fluid to drain and replace the filter with a new element, lubricating the gasket. Tighten the filter and clean any oil residue. After lowering the vehicle, open the fill cap in the engine compartment and fill the oil reservoir as specified in the owner's manual. Start the engine for a few minutes and check the fluid level; top off if necessary.
