Replacement of the Auxiliary Belt

Model: Chrysler Pt Cruiser MK 1 - Years 2000-2010

The vehicle in question actually has two auxiliary belts, one that drives the air conditioning compressor and the power steering pump, and the other for the alternator: both are positioned laterally to the engine, so to replace them, you need to access from the wheel arch; therefore, lift the vehicle and remove the passenger side wheel, then proceed to remove the wheel arch cover by taking out the screws and pressure clips; then loosen the tensioner of the first belt to remove it from the pulleys and subsequently loosen the mounting bolt of the alternator and the corresponding adjustment screw to loosen the second belt and remove it. Proceed in reverse for the installation of the new belts, fitting the alternator belt first and then the other.
