Ford Mondeo Mk5: how to reset the battery management system (BMS)

After replacing the battery in the Ford Mondeo Mk5, it is advisable to reset the BMS system, which is the module that monitors the state of charge of the battery. This operation takes place entirely from the cabin, without diagnostic tools. Start with the car stationary, the gear in the park position, and the parking brake engaged. The lights and other electrical accessories should be turned off. While seated in the driver's seat, keep your feet ready on the pedals and press the start button without starting the engine, so that only the dashboard lights up: the dashboard display illuminates, and the usual warning lights remain on. At this point, execute the reset sequence, which in the video is shown by pressing the pedals in the footwell (brake and accelerator) down fully and holding them pressed with the ignition on for a few seconds. During the wait, the dashboard remains normally illuminated. After the necessary time, release the pedals and turn off the ignition with the start/stop button. Upon the next ignition, the BMS system of the Ford Mondeo Mk5 will be updated to the new battery, and the charging management will function correctly again.
