How to Replace the Thermostat on a Ford Mondeo

To replace the thermostat on the Ford Mondeo, proceed as follows: first, remove the upper engine cover, then take off the front grille by unscrewing the 2 upper pins and unclipping the clips. Remove the pins holding the passenger side light, unscrew the coolant cap, and unscrew the bracket holding the coolant pipes with a 10mm spanner. Raise the car and work from underneath: using a flat screwdriver, unscrew the lower bolt on the radiator without removing it to drain all the coolant, placing a container underneath. Once all the fluid has drained, screw the bolt back in with the flat screwdriver and lower the car. Return to the engine bay, removing the clips holding the coolant pipes with long pliers, take out the pipes inserting paper to prevent dirt from entering, disconnect the connectors, and with an 8mm socket, unscrew the 3 bolts holding the thermostat, removing it. Clean the thermostat seat with a spatula and paper; take the new thermostat, spray some cleaner, apply sealant to the thermostat bolts, insert the new thermostat into its seat, screw in the bolts with the 8mm socket (then tighten them with a torque wrench to 6Nm), reconnect the pipes and clips, connect the connectors, screw the pipe bracket with a 10mm socket, clean the light connector and reconnect it, position it and replace the fixing pins, refill the coolant to the max mark, start the engine for a few minutes, replace the engine cover, and finally close the bonnet.
