Timing belt replacement for Ford Focus III 1.0 Ecoboost at the workshop.

In this video we can see the bench replacement of the timing belt on the Ford Focus III 1.0 Ecoboost. The recommended interval is 240,000 km or 10 years, and it is oil-immersed, and it is a job that requires 6 to 8 hours; the crash protection, the climate compressor, the alternator, the compressor intake pipe, the exhaust pipe, the exhaust pipe, the catalytic converter and the intake manifold must be removed. Special tools are also required, which we see in the video: on the crankshaft pulley we must set the mark at 1 o'clock, then unscrew the side screw and screw the tool until it pushes against the crankshaft. We remove the camshaft locks and insert the locking tools. We remove the starter motor and insert the locking tool to lock the flywheel. We install the torque multiplier support, for which there are three points. At the bottom we find the seal ring, which must be removed, then we unscrew the valve cover and the front cover: there are 20 screws, 4 M10 and 16 M6. Now we position the locking tools on the camshafts, with the flat side facing up. Loosen the timing belt on the tensioner roller, remove the belt and install the new tensioner roller: it is advisable to also replace the oil pump belt, to avoid future interventions. When reassembling the tensioner roller, pay close attention to the correct installation, then insert the belt counterclockwise and pull the pin on the tensioner roller to tension it. If the timing is correctly positioned, and the pin on the tensioner roller is tight, the adjustment is completed. Clean the contact surfaces well before reassembly with approved adhesive. The screws must be tightened in four stages, as indicated in the video, then insert the new seal ring of the front cover of the crankshaft, and then the pulley, and reassemble the engine in reverse.
