Where is the refill nozzle for the power steering fluid located on the Volkswagen Polo?

Accessing the power steering reservoir on the Volkswagen Polo 9N is anything but obvious, as it is located in the engine compartment, beneath the battery. It is a tank with a green cap, mounted directly on the side of the power steering cylinder, found at the rear right of the engine compartment, underneath and behind the battery group. We start by disconnecting the battery, always beginning with the negative terminal. Next, we unscrew the battery hold-down bolt, which is quite heavy (about 20 kg). We firmly grasp the battery by the designated handles and lift it upwards. Underneath the battery, there is often a plastic tray secured with clips, which we will need to detach. The reservoir is cylindrical, and depending on the version, it is either made of metal or black plastic, with a large green screw cap connected to the steering pump by a hose. To top up, we should only use the fluid specified by Volkswagen, G 001 000, known as Pentosin or CHF22S; we should never use ATF, which is the generic red automatic transmission fluid that would damage the system.
