How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Bora

Let’s see how to replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Bora (Jetta). Open the engine bonnet and lift it, securing it with the prop rod. Disconnect the wiring harness with pliers, and remove the plastic soundproofing panel with a screwdriver. Lift the car with a column lift to access the underside. Use a fixed spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. With a socket wrench, unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt and remove the water pump. Fit the new water pump, tensioner, and belt, tightening everything with the socket wrench. Reassemble the splash guard, securing pins, and the wheel.
