In this video, you can see where the starter motor is located in the BMW 3 Series and how to proceed if you need to replace it, a very simple operation. As shown, the motor is positioned at the left rear of the engine, to your right when looking at the vehicle from the front.

Before removing it, ensure the key is not in the ignition, then open the hood and disconnect the battery terminals. Next, remove both the air filter box and the plastic cover, disconnect the power leads to the motor, and remove the corresponding mounting bolts.

To install the replacement, simply follow the reverse procedure.
