How to replace the engine of a Renault Clio.
Model: Renault Clio
MK 4, Clio 4, Clio IV
- Years 2012-2019
On the Renault Clio, replacing the engine requires space, safe lifting, and prior identification of the engine code to ensure compatibility of brackets, sensors, and wiring. With the vehicle cold, disconnect the battery, lift the car onto jack stands, and drain the fluids (oil and coolant). Remove the lower protections, disconnect the intake, exhaust, and coolant hoses, and free the wiring and connectors, labeling them for reassembly; detach the fuel lines after depressurizing the system. Loosen the engine mounts, leaving the last one for last, with the engine already supported by a hoist or cradle/cart. If necessary, clear the front space by bringing the front end into a service position; separate the gearbox and half shafts only when the assembly is supported, then lower or raise the engine depending on the available equipment, keeping the position of spacers and mounts clear.
Before installing the replacement engine, transfer the specific auxiliaries from your Renault Clio (sensors, brackets, mounts, alternator, A/C compressor if you do not want to open the circuit, throttle body/injectors according to the engine type) and replace critical consumables: timing belt kit, water pump if applicable, thermostat, and glow plugs/spark plugs as required. Position the engine in the bay, align it with the mounts, and tighten with a torque wrench following the specified order; reconnect the gearbox, flywheel/converter, half shafts, and restore the intake, exhaust, hoses, and wiring without tension or kinks. Fill with oil and coolant to specifications, bleed the system, reinstall protections, and lower the vehicle. Upon commissioning, initialize any parameters with diagnostics (reset oil service, align immobilizer/ECU, learn throttle/injectors where required) and check for errors. Start the engine, checking oil pressure, leaks, and temperatures; after the first warm-up, perform a torque check on accessible mounts and connections, and conduct a short road test with a return to verify levels.

Installation of Upgraded Intercooler Radiator with Pipes
Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands, remove the front wheels, and then the front bumper and grille. Proceed to remove the front headlights; drain the coolant, remove the intercooler radiator and the hoses connecting it to the intake system. Position the new intercooler radiator in the grille, temporarily securing it with cable ties, and mark with a marker the part of the metal that needs to be removed to allow the new hoses to pass through. Cut the marked portion of metal and apply a gasket to the edge. Remove the inner cover of the bumper and position it near the radiator to identify any interfering parts to eliminate: again, apply a gasket to the edge of the cut. Create brackets for securing the new radiator and proceed with the installation of the connecting pipes from the radiator to the intake, shaping and connecting them appropriately. Finally, reassemble the bumper, headlights, and grille. by ScegliAuto More videos
