How to Replace the Fuel Pump on the Subaru Forester Mk4

This guide shows how to replace the fuel filter on the Subaru Forester Mk4. The first step is to disconnect the fuel pump control fuse from the fuse box located on the right side of the engine bay; perform a few engine starts to relieve the fuel pressure in the system. Remove the rear bench seat and the fuel pump cover panel. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump and clean the work area. Open the two green clips securing the fuel lines and use a container to catch any remaining fuel in the system. Using an 8 mm spanner, remove the securing bolts and extract the assembly. Remove the electrical connectors and the gasket from the pump and disconnect the old filter. Once the old filter body is removed, replace it with the new element and reassemble everything in position. Refit the control fuse, start the vehicle, and check for any leaks. Close the pump housing and reassemble the rear bench seat.
