Volkswagen Passat - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Oil filter
Operation: Replacement engine oil, oil filter and brake pads

Open the front hood and make sure it is supported safely. Unscrew the fixing pins of the plastic engine cover and remove it. After placing a plastic tray of suitable capacity (about 5 liters) under the oil pan to collect the used oil, unscrew the drain plug located on the side. During this phase, intercept the oil filter container (cartridge filter) located near the coolant tank in the engine compartment: then unscrew the cap, extract the old cartridge and insert the new one; before screwing the cap back on, replace the o-rings and sprinkle them with oil. Then screw the drain plug back on after replacing the copper washer and fill the engine with new oil according to the SAE specifications and the quantities indicated in the use and maintenance manual. Subsequently, to replace the rear brake pads, lift the car, remove the wheel and the brake caliper fixing pins (which are located at the rear) and remove the old pads and the disc. Using an iron brush, remove any oxidation residues present, apply the new disc on the hub, insert the new pads and reposition the caliper by tightening the relative fixing pins.
