Replacing the Cooling Water Thermostat

Model: Volkswagen Bora MK 6 - Years 1998-2005

Open the bonnet and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety. Unscrew the screws of the engine cover and remove it to access the interior. Open the cap of the radiator expansion tank and place a collection tray for the coolant under the vehicle. Locate the thermostat and disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the various water hoses to access the thermostat and proceed with its removal. The thermostat is located on the aluminium bracket which should be cleaned beforehand. Install the new thermostat and reassemble the various components that were removed earlier. Reconnect the connector and top up the coolant.
