How to Remove and Replace the Thermostat

To access and remove the thermostat, you must first remove a series of components, the most important of which is the alternator, as the thermostat is located directly behind it. Start by removing the assembly connected to the accelerator, then proceed to remove the timing belt and the tensioner pulley. At this point, you can begin to remove the alternator, and behind it, as shown in the images, you will find the hose. Unscrew the two screws and then remove the hose flange attached to the engine block to access the thermostat. Car model: Volkswagen Jetta Year: 2002.
