- Years 2001-2009 In this video we will show you a sequence of routine maintenance interventions. Let's start by lifting the car observing all the safety rules, helping us as you can also see with a stand. Once the car is lifted, from below we can unscrew the oil pan cap and let the used oil out. In the meantime, let's replace the battery by unscrewing the nut and removing the plate that blocks the battery. Then disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive one. Once you have removed the used battery, replace the new one by reconnecting the cables and screwing the plate back into place to secure it. Keep in mind that having disconnected the power from the electrical system you may need to reset the car radio code, for example. We now remove the protective casing which is fixed to the interlocking above the engine. Turning it upside down you will find a whole series of screws to unscrew to access the air filter. Replace the new filter making sure it is the same and positioned correctly. Retighten all screws. Let's go now to unscrew the oil filter as you can see. Replace the oil filter and gasket. We re-tighten the oil filter capsule and then also the screw on the oil pan with the new copper gasket, also restoring the engine oil. Now all that remains is to replace the spark plugs. First you have to disconnect the connector and the coils (one for each spark plug). Once this is done, unscrew the spark plug and replace it with the new one. If possible, use a spark plug wrench that has a rubber lining to hold the spark plug and prevent it from slipping off as you pull it out. Initially screw the spark plug by hand so as to hear if it is screwed in correctly so as not to risk damaging the thread. As you will notice, one of the coils has some oil stains. This may be due to a loose spark plug or a small gasket leak. It is not a major problem but it is good to check from time to time.
