Peugeot 406 - Video tutorial

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005
Part: Interior blower
Operation: Disassembly of the passenger compartment ventilation unit

This video illustrates the various disassembly phases (first from the car and then in every single part) of the passenger compartment ventilation and heating unit. The first image refers to the group as it is visible as soon as the dashboard is removed. Disassembling the unit is a bit laborious. The pipes in which the engine coolant circulates must be detached at the entrance to the bulkhead by eliminating the metal clips. The air conditioner pipes are extracted once the screws have been unscrewed but the refrigerant liquid must be removed with the help of expert personnel. There are two screws behind the cabin filter, another screw behind the master cylinder and another next to the exhaust gas recirculation valve. There is also a screw that secures the unit to the floor and several clips. Then in sequence you can see the screw seats on the bulkhead, those on the left located in the wheel arch on the passenger side behind the brake pump, the one on the right even if hidden by the resistances. The metal clips shown are those pipes while the plastic one is the air conditioning pipes and must be removed to move the pipes. Then you see the seat and the screws of the cabin filter. Now, once the group has been removed from the car, it can be disassembled in its main parts. The tubes of the upper outlets are removed. The fan motor is removed. The radiator is removed. Remove the motor that regulates the air recycling and the one that moves the fins to vary the air flow. You remove the control unit that regulates the speed of the fan probably when it is in automatic mode. A temperature sensor, a heating resistor and another air flow adjustment motor are removed. At this point the front part is separated. The upper shell, the sensor and the heat exchanger are removed. From here you can see the drain hole for the condensate that comes out of the car floor through a pipe. Now you can see the fan motor and the exchanger in their place as well as all the fins that divert the path of the air flow inside the group.
